Nací en Crotone, un pequeño pueblo situado en el sureste de Italia, originalmente colonizado por los griegos, en 1984. Comencé a tomar fotografías en torno a los 13 años. Las fotos que tomé durante mis años de adolescencia fueron en su mayoría autorretratos. Me mudé a Bolonia, cuando tenía 20 años y mi mundo cambió cuando empecé a leer Pasolini y cuando vi una foto de Diane Arbus, por primera vez. Yo todavía los considero mis mentores. Cuando tenía 22 años, mi padre me regaló una cámara fotográfica, buena, y él me dijo: "Se usa como un arma." Es entonces cuando me decidí a tomar fotografías de otras personas: amigos y amantes. Me mudé a Nueva York cuando tenía 23 años, y es donde resido actualmente. Mis héroes son personas que instigaron el cambio: no confío en la gente cuando dicen: "No tengo ningún héroe" o "yo soy mi héroe". Creo que es importante contar con héroes, si no por otra razón que por lo menos alguna vez usted no cometer los mismos errores que hicieron.

I was born in Crotone, a small town located in Southeastern Italy, originally colonized by the Greek, in 1984. I started to take pictures around age 13. The photos I took during my teen years were mostly self-portraits. I moved to Bologna when I was 20; my world changed when I started to read Pasolini and when I saw a picture of Diane Arbus for the first time. I still consider them my mentors. When I was 22, my father gave me a camera, a good one, and he told me, "Use it like a weapon." This is when I decided to take pictures of other people: Friends and Lovers. I moved to NYC when I was 23, and it's where I currently reside. My heroes are people that instigated change: I do not trust people when they say: “I do not have any heroes” or, “I am my hero”. I think it is important to have heroes, if for no other reason than at least you wont ever make the same mistakes they did.
