Edward James Muggeridge. Fotografo e investigador de la imagen que inspiró al nacimiento de la cinematografia.
Nacido en Kingston-on-Thames, Gran Bretaña, emigró a la edad de veintiun años a Estados Unidos. Pais en el que cambiaria su nombre al que actualmente conocemos, Eadweard Muybridge.
Comenzó como vendedor y encuadernador de libros hasta el 1860 en el que aprendio la tecnica fotografica de el Colodion humedo, Una tecnica que se basa en un barniz que se aplica a las placas sobre la que se extendía la emulsión química fotosensible.
En 1867, con el nombre comercial de Helios, fotografió el lejano oeste con su habitación oscura móvil, The Flying Studio (El estudio volador). Produjo vistas estereoscópicas y más tarde panoramas, incluyendo series importantes sobre la ciudad de San Francisco.
En 1873, a causa de una apuesta en la que el exgobernador de California Leland Stanford aseguraba que en el trote de los caballos hay un instante que todas sus patas estan al aire, Muybridge fotografia al caballo de Stanford a galope ante un fondo de sabanas blancas para resaltar al caballo. Las imagenes dieron la razon a Stanford.
Las investigaciones de Muybridge van desde la reduccion de tiempo fotografico hasta la captura fotografica en cadena de varias camaras que se activaban al paso de el caballo por medio de hilos que producian estimulos electricos para disparar la camara a su paso.
Invento el zoopraxiscopio que es una mejora de el Zootropo, cilindro que permite ver el movimiento de las imagenes a traves de las ranuras que dispone. La mejora que optiene con el zoopraxiscopio es que mejoraba la nitided de las animaciones al ser una proyeccion que se basaba en una luz interior que traspasaba el cilindro a traves de las imagenes pintadas en cristal.
Muybridge mostro sus imagenes de caballos al tandem inventor de el Fonografo Thomas Alva Edison y William K. L. Dickson para generar imagenes musicales. Curiosamente nunca se realizo a pesar de que Edison su usó las imagenes en su invento del cinematografo.
Su dedicacion a fotografiar el movimiento lo llavo a realizarlo en humanos y los animales de el zoologico de Philadelphia que publicó con la Universidad de dicha ciudad. Dejo un legado de mas de 100000 planchas fotograficas y 71 discos de zoopraxiscopio.
En los 90 la banda irlandesa U2 realizo un video tributo al fotografo usando sus tecnicas y philip Glass compuso The photographer en su honor.

Country in which to change his name we now know, Eadweard Muybridge.It started as a seller and bookbinder until 1860 where he learned the technique of wet collodion photographic, A technique based on a varnish that is applied to the plates on which lay the photosensitive chemical emulsion.In 1867, under the trade name of Helios, photographed the Wild West with your mobile dark room, The Flying Studio (The study flying). Produced stereoscopic views and later scenarios, including major series on the city of San Francisco.In 1873, because of a bet in which the former governor of California Leland Stanford claimed that in the trot of the horses is a moment that all legs are in the air, Muybridge photograph Stanford's horse galloping against a background of white sheets to highlight the horse. The images gave the reason to Stanford.Muybridge's investigations range from the reduction of time to capture photographic photographic chain several cameras that were activated to the passage of the horse by electrical wires that produced stimuli to trigger the camera in its path.The zoopraxiscope invention is an improvement of the Zoetrope, cylinder that makes your pictures move through the slots available.
