Fotografo y escritor norteamericano de St. Louis, Missouri con base en la ciudad de New York conocido por documentar los efectos de la gran deprsion economica de principios del siglo XX.

Entre sus trabajos mas importantes está el realizado junto al escritor James Agee sobre la vida de tres familias de campo de Alabama mostrando la pobreza en la depresion.

Fotografo australiano que se dedicó al fotoperiodismo y a fotografiar todos los barcos que entraban en la bahia de Sydney desde la decada de 1890 a los años 50 del el siglo XX, que posteriormente los vendia enmarcados.
Tambien dedicó su actividad a la publicidad de las constructoras fotografiando las nuevas edificaciones.
