Fotografo y realizador mexicano iniciado en el cine a traves de el director Sergéi Eisenstein.
El fotógrafo alemán Hugo Brehme, que lo incitó a comprase su primera camara. Contemporaneo de Tina Modotti, entre otros, basa su trabajo desde el aspecto de la vida social mexicana.
Realizó trabajos junto a John Ford y Luis Buñuel.
